Well May has been pirate month for the littles, and what fun we have been having.
Here are the activities that we have been up to. Pics to come.
Expect the learner to ‘have a go’, its alright not to get it the first time, just keep trying! There should be no fear of failure in learning, its counterproductive because learners will shy away from attempting things if there is a fear factor.
Having an expectation of children to learn gives them some autonomy, it shows them that you trust them enough to be able to achieve things by themselves. Great for their self esteem!
Well its been a great March at Little Big Fitness. For the littles we concerntrated on ‘me’, and made a book, focusing on one body part a week and drawing, writing then seeing what we can do with it.
The adults had initial fitness testing, the basics of a 300 set, and boxing. Its been a bit of a short month, so we extended the ‘Me’ book theme and will move onto ‘some of my favorite things’ in April (with an Easter activity as well), then start on ‘Pirates’ in May (so excited!)
So here are some of the kids beautiful artwork so far, thanks guys, you have been fantastic!
Poster 2 of the ‘FITERACY’ series, I is for Immerse.
Immerse your child in learning opportunities, its quite amazing how much mileage can be gotten from a simple look at a flower! Drawing, writing, colour, smell, touch, count, make, dance.
Sam and I are embarking on a project for our fiteracy facilitator course which is designing posters to describe the 8 conditions of learning (Cambournes conditions of learning). FITERACY has been designed as an anagram of these conditions, and its quite amazing what simple learning opportunities can achieve.
here is number 1, FASCINATE.
